Faithbooking: Abundant Life

The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly. John 10:10
I love this passage! It speaks so much of the promises of God in such a small little statement. Jesus came that we would have LIFE, and that we would have it more abundantly. It makes me happy to think that.
I see so many people, Christians, who walk around utterly miserable every day. People who have the attitude that our reward starts with death and that this life is only meant for misery. I just don’t think that’s accurate. If we truly grasp onto the promises of God (joy, peace that passes understanding, etc…) then we have hope for today and tomorrow. We need to live our lives full of hope and God’s joy. Jesus says, Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid. John 14:27. His peace is not dependent on circumstances. His peace and joy comes from knowing that God is in control, no matter what this life has to bring us.
Yes, there will be suffering, loss, pain. It is the nature of this fallen Earth. But, that doesn’t mean that we have to wallow in it. I don’t think God wants that for us at all. He wants us to experience his joy and peace right now. Yes, we have an awesome everlasting life waiting for us in Heaven. But, that doesn’t mean we can’t start our rejoicing now.
There are so many instances in God’s word–way too many to list–of people rejoicing and praising Him through times of trial…and His heart is always moved by it. I just want to accept the things he offers me, including abundant life!

i am really enjoying your faithbooking layouts!! Are you keeping them in a seperate album so that they are all together or spreading them throughout your regular album? I am beginning to teach faithbooking classes and have had that question come up a lot. Just thought I would see how you are placing yours.

What a great reminder. It's so easy to get bogged down in the sad and hard stuff. I think too we tend to think of abundance in material things, but that wasn't what Jesus was talking about. Even in trials our lives can be abundant. We do need to remember that promise. Abundant life. What an awesome blessing. Thanks for sharing!
