I’m excited to bring you another great giveaway today! I love books, and especially books that point my kids toward Jesus. As the Christmas season is upon us, that is especially important since they are sent so many conflicting messages about what the season is about.
My Friend Jesus tells the story of Jesus. It starts with His birth, and talks about his life, particularly focusing on the relationship we are invited to have with Him. This book was originally published as “The Gospel for Kids,” but this is a new version, edited slightly, and with beautiful artwork. I love the cover art–such a beautiful representation of Jesus walking alongside a child.
I mentioned the Christmas season above. This book is not necessarily about Christmas, but it does contain the Christmas story at the beginning. It also tells the basic story of Jesus’ life in a way that is easy for children to understand. Finally, it tells the story of his death and resurrection.
This is a great tool for “connecting the dots.” Children learn pieces of stories in Sunday school, children’s church, and in lessons we do at home. They learn about the baby born in a manger, and about the miracles Jesus performed, and that he died on the cross for their sins, and was risen. However, this book is a great one for tying everything together into one story, and helping them put them all together to see that Jesus is the star of all those stories and that He wants to have a relationship with them. For this reason, I think this is a great book to read to your children at Christmas, Easter, and all year long.
The book is written in a way that is easy to understand, without being overly simplistic.
