So, I’m totally stealing this idea from Crystal Paine over at moneysagingmom.com, but I thought it would be fun to share such a list. We could all use a bit more positivity and gratitude in our lives, right?
1. My rose bush
At my new house, I have a great rose bush. I love to stop and take a whiff as I’m walking down the porch steps, and I love to sit on my porch swing and enjoy looking at them.
My oldest son is playing baseball this year, and doing well and it’s so fun to watch him excel at something. I’ve surprised myself a bit by how “into” the games I get! I’m not a sports lover by nature, but I love my boy and apparently that takes precedence, because I have found myself yelling and cheering with the best of them.
Baseball was especially fun this week because we won our first game! I can’t tell you how exciting that was…I think we parents were more excited than the boys. We have a team full of children who are new in this level of play, and it has been a learning and growing experience for all of them, but it has been so fun to see the improvement, and I think the struggle this year made the win Monday night even sweeter.
3. When Calls the Heart
Somewhat related to that, we decided to suspend our Direct TV for the summer, and I have been sooo excited about it. I would love to not have it at all, but my hubby “needs” his sports. So, this is a nice compromise and we haven’t had it for the summer. We never watch it a ton, but it’s so nice to not have it as an option, and to not have that monthly bill for a few months either.
4. My Husband as a Father
Okay, this is cheating a little bit since I always love my hubby, but as Father’s Day approaches (and my hubby will be out of town for work), I can’t help but remember how amazing this man is as a dad.
I mentioned earlier that I’m loving baseball, and a part of that is seeing my husband in the role of coach. He really cares for each one of the boys on his team and has such a heart for them. He is such a patient teacher with them, and it’s a blessing for me to see this man I married in such a role.
I love to watch him step up and be a dad who loves and engages with both of his sons. The photo above is from Saturday. It was about 97 degrees outside that day. We’d had an away game at 1:20 to make up a rained out game. He had been out there coaching in the heat and he had a headache. As soon as we got home, Caeden was excitedly asking to play Stick (a game where one player hits the ball and the other player fields the ball. The batter then drops his bat and the fielder throws the ball and tries to hit the bat). My hubby didn’t even hesitate, but instead went right outside to play with him and gave it his all, never showing a sign that he wasn’t completely into it.
5. My new lotion
I got some new lotion in my latest shipment from Grove Collaborative and I am loving it! My only regret is that I waited so long to try it out. My new goal is to acquire all the scents one by one. I got the Lavendar Coconut (mostly lavender, I couldn’t really smell much coconut). I want to get the peppermint next, and I’ve heard the orange lavender is really good as well.
Over the past few years, I have become very sensitive to smells and chemicals. So much so that I can no longer use my previously beloved lotions and soaps (I used to love several scents from Bath & Body Works). I have tried several supposedly “unscented” lotions and they seem to bother me even worse than the others.
Because of the aforementioned issues, I was a bit hesitant to try this lotion, but have been very pleased with it. It has a nice scent that isn’t overpowering and fades somewhat quickly, and it only takes a tiny bit of the lotion to do its job–just a pea sized amount, not even a full pump. And, I love that it is organic and fair trade.
What are you loving this week? I’d love for you to share your own list in the comments (or hit reply if you’re reading this via email)
P.S. If you enjoyed this post, this is the type of thing that I often share on my instagram :) I’d love to have you join me over there.
