A Testimony & An Invitation (Read the Bible in a Year with Me)

Journey Through The Word invitation

In 2016, I did something that had a remarkable impact on my life. I read through the entire Bible. Every single word in every verse, every  chapter, and every book. It was something I had always wanted to do, but hadn’t. I had read most of it here and there, but hadn’t been intentional with it.

That year ended up being a season of deep trials, and the Lord ministered to me greatly in the midst of it, showing me in a very real way that His word is alive.

  • When our landlord told us he was selling our rental, and we desperately tried to find a place to go in a town with few rentals, I read about the Israelites in the wilderness and the Lord faithfully leading them. I read about the promised land as God worked out impossible situations that led to us finding and buying our home.
  • When my pastor was in the hospital for 3+ weeks and passed away, I was reading in John chapters 14-16 where Jesus prepares His disciples for his going away.

Over and over God’s word met me, spoke to me, and ministered to me in my circumstances.

A Yearly Tradition

At the start of 2017, I decided to do it again. I briefly worried that I might feel restless at reading the same things over, but as I began I realized something: I wasn’t reading the same things I had read the year before, not really.

Because God’s word is alive. He speaks to us directly through it.

Yes, the words are the same words that have been there for so many years, but I’m not the same. I’m not in the same place spiritually, and my circumstances aren’t the same. So the lessons learned, and the ways the Lord spoke to me this year have been different.

All over again, the Lord has ministered to me in amazing ways through His word.

An Invitation to Join Me

I am so excited to see what the Lord will do in the coming year. I’ve been incredibly blessed by this practice of reading through the Bible in a year, and I want you to join me. I want you to experience the blessings, the breakthroughs, the comfort, the guidance, the hope, the exhortation, and yes even the conviction that comes from reading God’s word.

So, for this coming year, I am hosting a facebook group for ladies who share my desire to read the Bible in a year. I am so excited to walk this journey with you all–click here to join the facebook group.

I will also be providing some free resources to help you along the way:

  • My customized Big Picture reading plan that will guide you through the readings required to complete the entire Bible in a year’s time.
  • Accountability through my exclusive facebook group. The group will provide accountability and devotional thoughts, along with an outlet for your own reading response, praises, and prayer requests.

P.S. If this is already a habit of yours, I’d still love for you to join in, and would love for you to share in the group some of the ways you’ve been blessed by doing this.

For now, join the group, and enter your email address below to get your free resources.

Reading Plans will be sent out on December 29th, so you’ll have them for the weekend if you want to get a head start.

Hi C. Webb! I’m so sorry–there was a problem with my email program. Thank you so much for letting me know. It’s on it’s way to you now, and I’m so sorry for the delay.

Hi Chrystal wishing both you, your family, loved ones and the Team a Blessed and safe 2018. I have read through the Bible only once before. I am now doing it again by using the One-Year Bible Immersion Plan provided by our Church, The Brackenhurst Baptist Church. This will enable me to read through the Old Testament once and the New Testament three times in the year. Each day has an OT and NT reading of 3 chapters from both Old and New Testament assigned. Readings are assigned six days a week; Sundays are free days that can be used for catch up if I have fallen behind or for reflection on the prayer Psalm of the week or our Sunday sermon Test. I listen to a recording of the Bible while reading it. That helps me to concentrate as I read and hear the Word.
I am not on FaceBook so I am unable join your Facebook Group.
Blessing Frances from a hot and blistering South Africa

That sounds like a great plan, Frances! Thank you for sharing :)

We’ve been the opposite of hot and blistering lately here in KY…single digit lows, and even our highs have been below freezing for most of the last couple of weeks.

I cannot find my bible reading plan anywhere on my device anymore. Can I please have another copy emailed to me?
