When Dreams Come True {Introducing the Illustrated Prayer Journal for Women}

I’ve been sitting on this for a while, my heart overflowing so much that I don’t even have all the words to share just how amazing all of this has been.

For as long as I can remember, I have had a dream to write a book and have it published. That was the dream. Along with that dream, I also had some specific ideas of exactly what it would look like.

Do you ever do this? You have this idea of what things should look like, and exactly how you should get there? More and more I’m finding that I should leave the details to the Lord because His way is always better anyway. After all, He is the God who is able to do exceedingly, abundantly above all that we ask or think.

Substance of things hoped for

I hold in my hand my very first published book. The verse on the cover is so fitting that I cried when I first saw it in person.

Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. -Hebrews 11:1

I’m holding the very substance of something I had hoped for. It’s not unseen anymore.

So, I just want to try and put to words some of the blessings tied up in this book.

It makes much of Jesus. This is not the novel that I had originally planned to write. In fact, it’s not really even a book I’ve written at all. There is very little of me in this book. And the more I think about that, the more I love it. This book is not about me and what I think. There is an introduction with some tips, and a final section with reflections, etc. and both very short. Instead, this book is filled with Him. It combines 2 of my favorite things–prayer and God’s Word. There is a verse on every page, and YOU get to fill it with your own faith journey.

It proves that God still uses broken people. You guys, I could write a whole book about how I was never going to be the best candidate to write any sort of book. The publisher for this book contacted me with their proposal at a really unlikely time. I wasn’t doing any of the right business things. I don’t have anything “together.” And, with everything going on in my life these last few months, I wouldn’t have been able to write a traditional type of book. But God dropped this amazing project right in my lap, in His way and in His perfect time.

Speaking of God’s perfect timing… When the publisher first approached me, it was to write a full-length book. I agreed but had second thoughts almost immediately because of some things that I couldn’t really even put a name to, I just felt unsettled about it. Anyway, when everything was said and done, that project didn’t work out and they offered me this one instead. This all happened back in the summer. What God knew that I couldn’t have known was that at the beginning of August, my mom and my mother-in-law would both be diagnosed with cancer. The last 4 months (the time that I have been working on this book), have been an absolute whirlwind of traveling, care-giving, and being stretched beyond our limits. There is no way I could have written a full length book during all this! But this project, which was lighter on the writing side, was perfect.

The Illustrated Prayer Journal for Women

So, here it is. The Illustrated Prayer Journal for Women. It releases next month, but it is available for pre-order right now!!!

A few things I love about it:

  1. There are verses on every page. I am particularly partial to them, of course, because they are chosen from my favorites. These verses are hand-selected. I went through my highlighted Bible, and picked out around 180 verses that I wanted to share with you all. Verses that I hope you will take time to read over, meditate on, memorize, study, and really soak in.
  2. The verses are in the KJV. There are so many different Bible versions out there. I grew up reading the KJV, but mostly read NKJV now. But, it’s always nice to read a verse in multiple versions. Please feel free (and encouraged) to read the verses in your own preferred version as well.
  3. The pages are stunning. The team working on this book went above and beyond my wildest expectations in making this book beautiful. There is full color all throughout this journal and on every single page. It’s beautiful! I will be sharing some inside pictures on my facebook page over the coming weeks.

Also, a note about pre-ordering. First of all, it really helps out the book and author when you pre-order (so thank you in advance!). Secondly, pre-ordering now gives you a price guarantee. If you pre-order now, you will get the lowest price between now and the end of release day!
