Our Thanksgiving this year doesn’t really look like we expected it to. Last week my father-in-law began having severe chest pains. He went in for stents on Friday and ended up being scheduled for triple bypass surgery instead. That surgery took place on Monday. So, my father-in-law has been in the hospital since last Friday, my husband has been there with him and the kids and I have been traveling back and forth a couple of times the 2.5 hour drive to the hospital, etc. We’re celebrating Thanksgiving at the hospital with my father-in-law today. It could have been so much worse.
Not exactly what we had planned. But the Lord is so faithful to help us keep our perspective, and He has been so faithful to pour out blessings on us. I have been studying so much lately about trials and about God’s sovereignty. In fact, I just wrote a post about it earlier this week, and about how we can learn from Joseph in this matter (from the old testament). I’m so thankful that He prepares our hearts for just what we need.
